The Connecticut Resources Recovery
Authority is a quasi-public agency
established by the state in 1973 to
modernize Connecticut’s solid waste
disposal. CRRA enabled the state to
replace a patchwork of "town dumps" by
making a major commitment to trash-to-
energy and backing it with recycling and
safe, modern, engineered lined landfills.

The old thinking of "The Solution to Pollution is Dilution", has been the
standard. That was the reasoning behind putting dumps and landfills
alongside rivers, where the runoff would be diluted.
With our dilemma of global pollution caused by runoff. Where we're finding
trace medications even in rainwater, we think it's time that our Department
of Environmental Protection, moves forward with a more environmentally
